Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is a world-class swimming facility located in Southport’s Broadwater Parklands that hosted the swimming and diving for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Featuring six pools (heated to a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius all year round) including a 50 meter 10-lane competition pool, an impressive dry land dive training facility, a fully equipped fitness centre, an onsite café and multi-function meeting rooms.

Estuary fishing is good all year round in the Gold Coast canals and inlets which are definitely worth exploring either by foot or hiring a boat. There is a good mix of restaurants and shops in Southport within five minutes’ walk of Palmerston Tower. There are many Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, hamburger and pizza shops. There is also plenty of pubs to have a drink and enjoy a meal as well.
For great shopping, you can head to the nearby Australia Fair Shopping Centre, the Brickworks Centre or Southport Park Shopping Centre. For even more choice, don’t forget to check out Pacific Fair in Broadbeach, Marina Mirage and the Surfers Paradise beachfront markets.
Buses and trams service the length of the Gold Coast and all within easy walking distance from Palmerston Tower.
